"In Quarantine"
The ancestors comed own the hallway as if every evening were a family gathering. Devotion to calendars defined by work and ancient religions has kept them lonely and quiet . . .
I am a poet, editor, and academic based in San Juan, Puerto Rico, where I have lived for more than 25 years. My poems have been published in several print and online journals, including Sapiens, The Wild Word, The Caribbean Writer, Chapter House, and Clackamas Literary Review. I earned an MFA in Creative Writing with a concentration in poetry from New York University’s Writers Workshop in Paris.
My recent poems explore various topics, these include: memory, ecological change, life in Puerto Rico, love and restoration, and the dynamics of witnessing.
I am also editor of the Caribbean studies journal Sargasso, which is based at the University of Puerto Rico in Río Piedras.
